Job Description

This contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with a middle school student, interpreting throughout the full school day in both classroom and diverse educational settings. Two full-time positions are available, with a preference for candidates with bilingual skills.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active and valid Interpreter License as required by the state
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in school settings, is highly desirable
  • Ability to interpret effectively in academic and social contexts for students in the middle school age group
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and a commitment to confidentiality
  • Bilingual ability is preferred for at least one of the positions
  • Dependable availability for the full duration of the school year
  • Onsite presence required, ensuring consistent support for the student

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear, accurate ASL interpretation during classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and throughout the school environment
  • Support communication between students, peers, staff, and teachers in a variety of educational situations
  • Build rapport and foster inclusion for the assigned student, ensuring equitable participation
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with school policies and professional ethics
  • Collaborate with educators to understand curriculum content and facilitate student engagement
