Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dependable Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated 1:1 interpreting services for a student in a school setting in the Valley Center, CA area.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, strong sign language communication skills, and the ability to facilitate meaningful communication between the student, teachers, classmates, and school staff.

### Responsibilities

- Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpreting services throughout the school day.
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and school-related events.
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers.
- Support the student's access to the general education curriculum and classroom activities.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate interpreter boundaries.
- Collaborate with teachers and school personnel to support the student's educational needs.
- Follow all applicable professional interpreting standards and school policies.

 Qualifications

- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience in educational interpreting preferred.
- EIPA certification, RID certification, or applicable state-recognized qualifications preferred or required as applicable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an educational team.
- Reliable, patient, professional, and passionate about working with students.
- Must be able to meet applicable school district and background clearance requirements.

 Position Details

- Full-time position.
- Monday through Friday.
- School-based setting.
- 1:1 student assignment.
- Located in the Valley Center, California area.
