Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience in educational environments
• Certification from recognized interpreting bodies (such as RID, EIPA, or equivalent)
• Experience working with children or young adults, ideally in a classroom or school-related setting
• Ability to adapt quickly to varied communication needs and classroom situations
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with students, educators, and families respectfully and collaboratively
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical interpreting standards
• Reliability, punctuality, and strong organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students, educators, and staff during lessons, activities, and events
• Interpret classroom discussions, instructions, and all school-related communications to facilitate full participation for students
• Collaborate daily with educational teams to tailor interpreting services for individual student needs
• Support students in both mainstream and special education environments, adapting as required
• Maintain detailed, confidential records regarding services and communication needs
