Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience interpreting in educational or school-based settings preferred
  • Certification such as EIPA, RID, or state credential (where applicable)
  • Comfort interpreting in a range of classroom situations and age groups
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Assist with communication between students, teachers, and school staff as needed
  • Foster inclusivity by supporting participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
  • Prepare for lessons by reviewing materials, schedules, and terminology ahead of time
  • Work collaboratively with educational teams to best support individual student needs
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with school guidelines
