Job Description
An educational Sign Language Interpreter position is available for the 2023-2024 school year in Texico, NM, serving K-12 students. This contract role offers an opportunity to work closely with students across multiple grade levels, facilitating communication and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Position Details:
- Location: Texico, New Mexico
- Duration: ASAP through May 21, 2026
- Schedule: 32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 7:45 AM 4:15 PM
- Setting: K-12 School
- Role: Provide one-on-one interpretation for a preschool student along with sign language exposure to students in grades 1 through 8
Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and clear interpretation in American Sign Language (ASL) to support students educational needs
- Facilitate communication between students and educators, contributing to accessibility and engagement
- Adapt interpreting strategies to meet the varied needs of a diverse student population
Qualifications:
- Must hold an active Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license for New Mexico
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings is preferred
