To thrive in this role, youll need:

  • Current California certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially within school settings
  • Background working as a paraprofessional, preferably at the middle school level
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and strong interpersonal skills
  • Dependability and the ability to collaborate within a team or with educational staff

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Providing real-time sign language interpretation in classroom and school activities
  • Facilitating clear communication between the student, peers, and staff
  • Assisting educators in understanding the needs and progress of the student
  • Supporting the student with daily routines and instructional material accessibility
