Job Description

A contract position is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated support for a middle school student in an educational setting. This full-time role requires onsite presence in Fort Smith, AR, and involves interpreting during classes and other school-related activities to facilitate communication and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 sign language interpreting services for a middle school student throughout the school day
  • Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, and other educational interactions
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure effective communication and access to learning materials
  • Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all interpreting assignments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid State Interpreter License
  • Proficiency in sign language interpretation, ideally with telehealth experience
  • Bilingual skills highly preferred for one of the two available positions
  • Ability to work full-time hours (37.5 hours per week) and maintain a consistent onsite presence
  • Experience working with middle school students or in school environments is advantageous

  • Contract duration: August 2026 through May 2027
  • Number of openings: 2 positions
  • Schedule: Full school day, Monday through Friday
