Job Description

Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a vibrant educational setting near Tavares, FL. This contract opportunity offers meaningful work supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a full-time, on-site role for the upcoming school year.

The anticipated assignment runs from August 10, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with schedules set for 37.5 hours per week. Interpreters will work predominantly in 1:1 settings, collaborating closely with students and school staff to foster accessible and inclusive learning experiences.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply quicklypending approval of funding, interviews are likely to be scheduled soon for multiple interpreter positions.

Key Qualifications:

  • Eligible to interpret in K-12 educational environments
  • EIPA certification level 3 or higher OR
  • RID credentials: NIC, NAD, or Educational Certification (K-12 or OTC)
  • Proven skill in American Sign Language (ASL), with experience supporting children or adolescents
  • Ability to complete district onboarding, including submission of required documentation

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct sign language interpreter support to assigned students during classroom instruction and related activities
  • Facilitate clear, accurate communication between students, teachers, and peers
  • Maintain adherence to professional and ethical standards in all interpreting assignments
  • Participate in team meetings and maintain timely documentation, as required by school policy
