Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other relevant sign systems
• Ability to adapt signing techniques for students varied communication preferences and age groups
• Familiarity with educational interpreting in K-12 environments is preferred
• National or state interpreter certification is a plus
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaboration skills
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Responsibilities:

• Interpret verbal communication, instructions, and classroom activities between school staff and students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Provide real-time interpretation during academic lessons, assemblies, parent meetings, and extracurricular events
• Collaborate with educators, counselors, and specialists to facilitate student inclusion and engagement
• Support students self-advocacy skills and independence through clear communication
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting services and participate in IEP meetings as needed
