Location: Tacoma, WA (travel-based position)
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and hearing individuals in classroom and school activities.
- Interpret spoken and signed information in real-time, ensuring all parties fully understand the content.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support students' educational goals.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Adapt interpreting strategies to meet diverse learning environments and individual student needs.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at an advanced level.
- Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred.
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and educational terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel as required to various school locations within the region.
- Certification or training in sign language interpreting is a plus.
