Make a meaningful difference as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a high school student in a behavioral classroom setting. This contract opportunity, in a vibrant educational environment near Sugar Land, TX, spans from August 12, 2026, through May 27, 2027. You will work closely with a 9th-grade student who is reintegrating from a Residential Day School Program. The student, who utilizes cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an Assistive Listening Device, relies on American Sign Language (ASL) for educational access. Your role will focus exclusively on academic instruction times, with consistent hours from Monday to Thursdaytotaling around 26 hours weekly.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience interpreting in educational settings
• Current licensure/certification for Sign Language Interpretation
• Previous experience working with students who have hearing loss, particularly those using implants or hearing aids
• Sensitivity to students dealing with behavioral and adjustment needs
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and special education teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear, accurate communication between a 9th-grade student and instructional staff during classroom activities
• Ensure access to curriculum content and peer interactions, adapting interpretation style as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all interactions
• Support students adjustment and self-advocacy as they transition from a specialized program
• Participate in team meetings and contribute insights into effective communication strategies
