Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong expressive and receptive skills
• Previous experience interpreting for pediatric populations, ideally within school settings
• Ability to adjust interpretation for various age levels from Pre-K to middle school
• Familiarity with IEPs and educational terminology
• Flexibility to adapt to classes ranging from individual (1:1) interpretation to group activities
• Recognized certification or credential in sign language interpreting (state or national)
• Professionalism, confidentiality, and a collaborative spirit

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear, accurate communication between students and educators in a variety of classroom settings
• Support individual students in both mainstream and special education environments
• Modify interpreting techniques to match students ages, comprehension levels, and classroom activities
• Work closely with school staff and families to monitor and adapt interpreting strategies according to student needs
• Maintain thorough records to track progress and ensure compliance with educational goals
