Enhance students' educational experiences as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter within a supportive school environment. This contract role is designed for professionals dedicated to fostering communication access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. The position, located near Suffolk, VA, runs full-time (37.5 hours per week) from the beginning of the 26/27 school year through the end of the school year.

Key Qualifications:

• Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III or higher
• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of at least 3.5, plus a passing score on the EIPA written test
• Acceptable alternative qualifications as recognized by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH)
• Proven experience providing sign language interpretation services in educational settings is strongly preferred
• Ability to clearly facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students, teachers, and staff
• Professional demeanor and commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate, effective sign language interpretation for students during classroom lessons, activities, assemblies, and meetings
• Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure students educational needs are met
• Adapt interpreting style to best support students' learning and engagement
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all assignments
• Attend and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when required
• Maintain consistent attendance and communication with team members
