Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students access to communication and learning as a contract American Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position, commencing August 2026 and concluding in June 2027, offers 37.5 hours per week within a dynamic educational setting.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification
• An Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, plus a passing score on the EIPA written test
• Consideration for other certifications or qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH)
• Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in an educational setting preferred
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, educators, and support staff
• Strong commitment to fostering inclusivity and academic success

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately interpret classroom lectures, discussions, and school activities to facilitate accessibility for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
• Work closely with teachers and staff to interpret both academic and extracurricular content
• Support students' understanding of educational materials, assignments, and peer interactions
• Maintain the confidentiality and professionalism required in an educational environment
• Adapt interpreting style to suit individual student needs and learning situations
