Job Description
This opportunity is for a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) in a school setting, located in Chesapeake, VA. The position is a full-time contract role, working 37.5 hours per week, with an immediate start and continuing through the end of the school year (EOSY).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
- Support classroom instruction by interpreting lectures, discussions, and other educational content.
Qualifications:
- Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification.
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher.
- Passing score on the EIPA written test or qualifications deemed equivalent by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH).
- Strong understanding of educational interpreting standards and best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educational teams.
