Required Qualifications and Certifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with experience working in school environments
- Active Alaska EIPA score as required for educational interpreting
- Relevant credentials and certifications to perform as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing across kindergarten through 12th grade
- Adapt interpretation methods to suit varied classroom activities, educational content, and individual student needs
- Support communication between students, educators, families, and staff by facilitating clear, effective understanding
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all educational interactions
- Collaborate closely with educational teams, participating in meetings and contributing to student support plans as needed
Role Details:
- Full-time: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday schedule
- Caseload includes K-12 students; caseload numbers may fluctuate based on school assignment
