Exciting opportunity available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter eager to make a meaningful difference in a school environment near Steamboat Springs, CO. This full-time contract position offers the chance to work directly with a middle school student (8th grade) who is hard of hearing, providing crucial support during the academic year in a 1:1 setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado Sign Language Interpreter (CO SLI) license required
- Proven ability to accurately interpret spoken language into sign for educational purposes
- Experience working in school settings or with adolescent learners preferred
- Professionalism, strong communication skills, and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments
- Collaborative mindset and dedication to supporting students educational and social growth
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a dedicated interpreter for one 8th grade student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear and effective communication between the student, classmates, teachers, and staff in all instructional and non-instructional settings
- Help promote student engagement, comprehension, and inclusion in classroom and school activities
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant school policies and interpreting ethics
- Collaborate with educational teams and contribute insights to enhance the students learning experience
