Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with interpreting in educational settings
- Current certification or license as required by state and school guidelines
- Previous experience working in K-12 environments preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the communication needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Ability to adapt interpreting style to match a variety of learning activities and age groups
What Youll Do:
- Interpret classroom instruction, assemblies, and other school activities to facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Support student participation and comprehension during academic and extracurricular activities
- Work collaboratively with educational staff to foster an accessible and supportive learning atmosphere
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Adapt to students individual language preferences and learning styles
- Participate in team meetings or IEP sessions, as needed, providing valuable input regarding students communication needs
