Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., EIPA, RID, or state equivalent)
- Experience working in school settings or with children/adolescents is preferred
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other manual communication methods
- Ability to interpret complex classroom instructions and interactions effectively
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students, teachers, and staff during classroom lessons, school functions, and meetings
- Support students access to curriculum and extracurricular activities through effective interpreting services
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to address individual student needs
- Encourage and facilitate inclusive participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate records in accordance with school policies
