Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Relevant certification or credential as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent)
- Previous experience working in a school setting is highly valued
- Ability to interpret both individual and group settings, adapting style for varying age groups and learning needs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional, flexible attitude and a true commitment to student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for students in classrooms, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
- Support effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
- Foster an inclusive environment that supports educational and social development
- Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to help implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all ethical guidelines related to interpreting in an educational setting
