Job Description

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) position is available to support K-12 students in an onsite school setting located in South Portland, ME. This contract opportunity spans the full school year (CSY) and involves delivering direct interpreting services to students across all grade levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality ASL interpreting services to K-12 students in educational settings
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and staff
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet diverse student needs
  • Collaborate with educators to support academic and social inclusion
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to program policies and state regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Maine Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting skills
  • Experience working in educational environments preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to supporting students' learning and engagement
