Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various interpreting modes
  • Experience working with students in a school setting preferred
  • Ability to facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students, staff, and peers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support diverse classroom dynamics

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective interpretation for classroom instruction and school activities
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure student access to curriculum and resources
  • Adapt interpretation methods to fit individual student needs and educational contexts
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism within the school community
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and participate in IEP planning as needed
