Job Description

A school-based position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide communication access within an educational environment. This travel role requires flexibility and adaptability to support students and staff in various school settings.

Location: Sioux City, IA (travel position)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and school staff using sign language interpreting skills
  • Interpret a variety of educational content in real-time during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to ensure accessible learning environments
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the needs of diverse student populations

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills
  • Experience working in educational settings preferred
  • Understanding of deaf culture and communication strategies
  • Ability to travel between schools as required
