Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide vital communication support within school settings. This role involves travel to various schools in and around Shepherd, MT, offering a dynamic work environment and the chance to make a meaningful impact on students' educational experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators using American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and school activities to support student learning and inclusion
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to adapt materials and communication methods
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards in all interactions
  • Manage travel logistics efficiently to cover multiple school assignments as required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience interpreting in educational settings
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and educational needs of deaf/hard-of-hearing students
  • Ability to travel regularly within the assigned region, including Shepherd, MT and neighboring areas
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with students, staff, and families
  • Previous experience in school-based interpreting or related education support roles is highly preferred
