A full-time Sign Language Interpreter opportunity is available in Shaftsbury, VT, serving the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union. This role involves travel within the district and offers the chance to support individual students in a school setting from the start date through June 16th.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services to students in kindergarten and third grade.
- Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard of hearing students, their teachers, and peers.
- Collaborate with educational staff and support personnel to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt interpreting approaches to meet each students unique communication needs.
- Participate in training and district-specific onboarding procedures, including background checks and contract completion.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience interpreting in educational settings.
- Open to both certified and non-certified candidates with relevant skills.
- Ability to work full-time hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
- Willingness to travel as needed within the district for assignments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and school staff effectively.
