Job Description

Qualifications & Experience:

  • National or state certification in sign language interpreting (such as RID, EIPA, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably with children or adolescents
  • Knowledge of IEP processes and educational accommodations is a plus
  • Strong understanding of student confidentiality and privacy practices
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to manage multiple assignments within a school day

Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretive services between students, staff, and others in the educational setting
  • Assist with classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed
  • Support students in both one-on-one and group scenarios
  • Adapt interpreting style to align with individual students needs and teacher styles
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by district and program guidelines
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with educators on student progress and needs
  • Exhibit professional conduct and uphold ethical standards at all times
