Seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for school settings in Scottsbluff, NE, with travel opportunities. This role involves providing clear and effective communication support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, ensuring equal access to education and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and educators in classroom settings.
- Translate spoken English to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during lessons, meetings, and school events.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student success.
- Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate various subjects and student needs.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills.
- Experience working in educational environments preferred.
- Valid certifications in sign language interpreting (e.g., RID certification) are an asset.
- Ability to travel as required to multiple school locations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting diverse learners.
Location: Scottsbluff, NE, with travel to surrounding schools as needed.
