Seeking an experienced Sign Language Interpreter to provide exceptional communication support in educational settings within Salisbury, MD, and surrounding areas. This role involves travel between various schools, offering an exciting opportunity to work in diverse educational environments and make a meaningful impact on students' learning experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff.
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
- Collaborate closely with educators, therapists, and support staff to ensure effective communication and access to the curriculum.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
- Adapt to different school environments and student needs through travel across assigned locations.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and English.
- Experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably within K-12 schools.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and educational terminology.
- Ability to travel regularly between schools within Salisbury, MD, and nearby communities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Relevant certifications or training in sign language interpreting are preferred.
