Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students and staff in a dynamic educational environment near Round Lake, IL. Two immediate positions are available, each offering the chance to make a meaningful impact within school settings recognized for their commitment to student support and communication access. Both positions require onsite presence, working alongside dedicated professionals and helping foster inclusive learning experiences.

Key Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval, or 3.03.4 with ISBE Interim Approval
  • Alternatively, BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials accepted with ISBE Approval
  • Strong fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational settings
  • Professionalism, collaboration, and adaptability in school environments

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality sign language interpretation between students, staff, and other stakeholders as needed
  • Support communication in classrooms, meetings, and school activities
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and special education teams to ensure accessibility for students who are D/deaf or hard of hearing
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and school policies

Position Details:

1st Position:

  • Location: John Powers Center, Vernon Hills, IL
  • Schedule: MondayFriday, 9am3pm
  • Contract through May 28, 2027

2nd Position:

  • Location: Grayslake North High School, Grayslake, IL
  • Schedule: MondayFriday, 8am12pm
  • Contract through May 20, 2027
