Job Description

This opportunity for a Sign Language Interpreter offers a dynamic role traveling to various schools to facilitate effective communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Working in an educational environment, you will play a vital role in helping students access the curriculum and participate fully in their academic experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, students, and support staff to ensure accurate communication
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
  • Adapting interpreting techniques to suit diverse age groups and educational settings

Desired qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting experience
  • Knowledge of deaf culture and educational terminology
  • Ability to travel between school locations as assigned
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support collaborative work with school personnel
