Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills.
• Hold an active, current sign language interpreter license.
• Previous experience working with students in an educational environment preferred.
• Ability to foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere and adapt to a dynamic school setting.
• Comfortable collaborating with educators and leveraging assistive listening devices (ALD) to facilitate communication.
• Strong sense of empathy, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation for a 9th-grade student during all class periods and school activities each Friday (6.5-hour day).
• Support academic progress by interpreting classroom instruction, discussions, and peer interactions.
• Assist the student in navigating challenging coursework such as Algebra I, ensuring full access to curriculum content.
• Facilitate communication during extracurricular engagement, such as drama productions and other events.
• Collaborate with the broader educational team, maintaining open communication with teachers and staff.
