Job Description

Step into an engaging, student-focused environment as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming school year. This full-time, onsite contract spans from August 10, 2026, to May 27, 2027, with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, providing a consistent routine throughout the academic year. You'll work closely with a dedicated caseload, making a meaningful impact on daily interactions and educational success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in the state of North Carolina
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience supporting students in K-12 educational settings preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work exclusively onsite throughout the assignment
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries

Role Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language and other auditory information into ASL and vice versa for students and staff
  • Foster clear, effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, educators, and peers
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education teams, and related service providers
  • Provide interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, extracurricular activities, and school events as required
  • Support student engagement, participation, and access to the curriculum
  • Maintain accurate records and follow all ethical, professional, and district guidelines
