Located near Puyallup, WA, this engaging role runs from September 2nd to June 17th, offering a consistent schedule of 32.5 hours per week at a single school site. Youll be an essential resource in facilitating clear communication between students and their educational teams, making a difference for learners who rely on your expertise.
What Youll Bring:
- Current Washington Sign Language Interpreter certification
- Experience in educational settings, ideally with K-12 age groups
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Adaptability and collaborative mindset to work alongside teachers and support staff
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide cultural sensitivity within a diverse school community
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom lessons, school events, and one-on-one interactions for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Support communication in both academic and extracurricular settings
- Prepare and adapt materials as needed to ensure full participation
- Collaborate effectively with educators and administrators
- Serve as a language and cultural liaison when needed
- Maintain accurate records of services provided
