Qualifications and Skills:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience interpreting in educational or school settings preferred
• RID/NAD certification or state credentials (if required)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and students
• Flexibility and professionalism in adapting to varied classroom environments
• Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, presentations, and discussions between teachers, peers, and students who use sign language
• Facilitate effective communication during school meetings, extracurricular activities, and events
• Accurately convey spoken information into sign language and vice versa
• Work one-on-one or with small groups, adapting interpretation style to diverse student needs
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics at all times
• Contribute to educational plans by collaborating with educators and administration as needed
