Qualifications and Skills:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with ability to interpret in an educational setting
• Previous experience supporting pediatric populations or working 1:1 with students
• Understanding of developmental needs from Pre-K through grade 8
• Knowledge of best practices in school-based interpretation
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to adapt to various educational environments and student needs
• National and/or state credentials in sign language interpreting (preferred)
• Ability to pass background checks and meet district compliance standards

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver real-time ASL interpretation for designated students in all aspects of their school day
• Facilitate clear, accurate communication between students, teachers, and peers
• Adapt interpreting style and pace to meet the individual needs of assigned students
• Provide support during classroom activities, assemblies, therapies, and special events
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teamsincluding teachers, therapists, and administratorsto promote inclusive education
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times
• Track progress and communicate effectively with relevant staff and families
