Job Description

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) position is available to provide direct services to K-12 students in an onsite school setting located in Portland, ME. This contract role spans the current school year and requires a dedicated professional licensed in Maine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation services to students across all K-12 grade levels.
  • Facilitate effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, peers, and staff.
  • Collaborate with educational teams to support student learning and inclusion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all relevant policies and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Maine Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License required.
  • Proven experience interpreting in educational environments, particularly K-12 settings, preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf culture.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
