Job Description
This opportunity is for an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support students in a K-12 school environment located in Portales, NM. The contract position runs from ASAP through May 21, 2026, with a commitment of 32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Responsibilities include providing 1:1 interpretation services for a preschool student and facilitating sign language exposure to students in grades 1 through 8. This role plays a pivotal part in enhancing communication access and promoting inclusive education among deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Qualifications:
- Current Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license recognized by the state of New Mexico
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential
- Experience working in educational or child-focused settings preferred
