Job Description

Calling all experienced Sign Language Interpreters passionate about making a difference in an educational setting! A rewarding contract opportunity is available for the 2026-2027 school year, working closely with a high school student in an adaptive classroom environment. This role provides a unique chance to contribute to a supportive team, facilitating communication and access to curriculum for a student who uses a wheelchair.

As the designated interpreter for this assignment, youll be onsite 37.5 hours per week, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and providing comprehensive interpreting services. Your expertise will serve as a crucial bridge, empowering the student and ensuring an inclusive and engaging educational experience.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
  • Prior experience in school settings or with SPED populations highly preferred
  • Skillful at facilitating clear communication and adapting interpretation to individual needs
  • Comfortable working with students with physical disabilities and within adaptive classrooms
  • Team-oriented, compassionate, and reliable

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sign language interpretation for all classroom activities and interactions
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to provide comprehensive communication access
  • Facilitate understanding of assignments, directions, and social interactions
  • Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics
