Job Description

This contract role offers the chance to work closely with a dedicated team, providing critical communication support and ensuring an inclusive educational environment. The student you'll assist uses a wheelchair and requires comprehensive sign language services delivered exclusively onsite, per family preference.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid and current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required
  • Experience in school settings, especially with students requiring adaptive services
  • Comfort working in a classroom environment
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with educators and related service teams
  • Compassion, patience, and respect for student confidentiality

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sign language interpretation services for a high school student throughout the school day
  • Facilitate all forms of communication between student, teachers, and peers
  • Actively support the students participation across various classroom and school activities
  • Adapt interpreting approach to meet specific accommodations in an adaptive classroom
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation as needed
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with other special education professionals

Onsite position only (no virtual/remote option) with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, following the academic calendar from August to May.
