Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Teacher preferred
• Familiarity with supporting students in elementary settings
• Strong ability to adapt communication for diverse learning needs
• Current certification or credentials for educational interpreting (as required by state regulations)
• Dedicated to establishing positive relationships with students, teachers, and staff

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate clear, accurate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff
• Travel between elementary schools as needed, providing support across multiple classrooms
• Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings
• Assist in creating an accessible learning environment by adapting and clarifying content
• Collaborate closely with educators to integrate interpretive services into lessons and activities
• Serve as a communication bridge during parent-teacher conferences or school events
