Desired Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
• Experience or certification as an ASL Teacher is a plus
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to adapt to different elementary classroom environments
• Certification or credentials in interpreting or teaching, as required by state guidelines

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation services for students and staff to facilitate effective communication
• Support deaf or hard-of-hearing students within elementary classrooms, ensuring full access to curriculum and activities
• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teams, and families to meet students individual needs
• Design or adapt instructional content when serving as an ASL Teacher
• Travel between assigned schools as needed, serving students in an itinerant capacity
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings as appropriate
