A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication needs within educational settings. This role involves travel to various school locations in and around Peyton, CO, providing vital interpretation services to foster an inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and staff by interpreting spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
- Collaborating with educators and support staff to ensure accessibility of educational content.
- Adhering to professional ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality.
- Preparing for assignments by reviewing relevant materials and staying current on terminology and interpreting techniques.
- Managing travel logistics to multiple school sites within the region.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills in educational settings.
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools is highly preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage travel schedules, and adapt to varying environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Certification or credentials in sign language interpretation will be an advantage.
