Job Description

Inspire students and empower communication by bringing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a supportive educational environment near Palatine, IL! If youre passionate about helping students access their education and thrive, there are two immediate opportunities to make a positive impact in schools.

Your interpreting skills will be needed in a contract position supporting students and staff. Choose from two schedule options to fit your needs:

Position 1:

  • Located at a center specializing in supporting diverse learners
  • Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm
  • Contract term from start date through May 28, 2027

Position 2:

  • Based at a local high school, fostering an inclusive classroom environment
  • Monday through Friday, 8am to 12pm
  • Contract term from start date through May 20, 2027

Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with ISBE Approval, or 3.03.4 with interim ISBE Interim Approval
  • Credentials such as BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC with ISBE Approval
  • Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative spirit

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation between students, staff, and peers
  • Support educational access and social interaction for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school personnel to promote an inclusive environment
  • Adapt communication style as needed to meet student needs
