An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a high school student in Oxnard, CA. This position requires expert sign language interpretation to facilitate effective communication and learning in an educational setting. The role accommodates both onsite and virtual environments, providing flexibility in work location.
Responsibilities include providing 1:1 interpretation services during specified class periods to ensure the student fully participates in the educational experience. The weekly schedule is Monday through Thursday with sessions from 10:18 AM to 11:48 AM and 12:29 PM to 1:59 PM, plus Friday hours varying with sessions from 10:36 AM to 11:50 AM and 12:31 PM to 1:45 PM. This role demands precision and cultural competence to effectively support communication in these academic settings.
Ideal candidates will have:
- RID Certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf)
- A passing score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
- Proven professional experience as a sign language interpreter within school environments
