Job Description

Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a dynamic educational setting supporting a high school student in an engaging 1:1 environment. This contract opportunity is located onsite near Oxnard, CA, offering you the chance to build meaningful connections while working directly within a school community.

This position requires an onsite presence, following a streamlined weekly schedule:

Schedule:

  • MondayThursday:
    • Period 2: 10:18 AM 11:48 AM
    • Period 3: 12:29 PM 1:59 PM
  • Friday (hours may vary):
    • Period 2: 10:36 AM 11:50 AM
    • Period 3: 12:31 PM 1:45 PM

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification.
  • Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 4.0 or higher.
  • Prior experience working in a school setting as a professional interpreter.
  • Strong commitment to facilitating education and communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration with educators and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate and fluid American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for a high school student during instructional periods.
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational support staff to ensure access to all learning materials.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards within the school environment.
  • Provide feedback, resources, or support for classroom accessibility as needed.
