Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
- Support students with hearing impairments to engage fully in the educational environment
- Collaborate with educators, speech therapists, and other staff to enhance communication strategies
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to educational and legal guidelines related to interpretation services
- Travel to various school locations as required to provide consistent services
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and understanding of Deaf culture
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Reliability and flexibility to accommodate travel assignments
- Certification such as RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) is a plus
