Job Description

This contract-based opportunity allows you to support an inclusive learning environment, working alongside educators, administrators, and families to ensure students who are deaf or hard of hearing fully participate in school activities.

Your fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) will foster accessibility for classroom instruction, assemblies, and extracurricular programs, enhancing communication for students and supporting their academic and social success.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
  • Certification or licensure as required by state standards
  • Ability to interpret spoken English to ASL and ASL to spoken English accurately
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability in fast-paced environments
  • Commitment to professional conduct, confidentiality, and supporting diverse student needs

What youll do:

  • Interpret classroom lessons, school events, and student interactions using ASL
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and other interpreters to provide seamless communication access
  • Adapt communication styles as needed to meet individual student needs and teacher preferences
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with all district guidelines and ethical standards
  • Advocate for accessibility and inclusion to support students educational and social development
  • Assist with orientation for new students or staff as needed
