Qualifications/Experience:

  • Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf OR
  • EIPA score of 4.0+ (or equivalent ESSE-I/R, NAD/ACCI assessment)
  • Open to candidates with EIPA under 4.0 (considered as ASL Para)
  • ASL fluency and an AA degree welcomed
  • Experience in educational settings and comfort working with elementary or intermediate students preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff
  • Provide both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting
  • Support students in reading, writing, math, vocational, and daily living skills
  • Supervise students during class, outdoor activities, and community outings
  • Flexibly work across various grade levels and adapt to different school environments
