This contract role involves facilitating clear communication for students in grades Pre-K through 5, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities. Your expertise will empower young learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to fully engage in the classroom environment.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience in educational settings, especially working with pediatric or K8 populations
• Comfortable providing 1:1 support in both classroom and individual settings
• Familiarity with IEP processes and supporting diverse learning needs
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to foster inclusive learning
• Professional certification or licensure in sign language interpreting preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for a designated student or group
• Assist with communication during transitions, assemblies, and other school events
• Support academic and social development by accurately conveying spoken and signed language
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all student interactions
• Participate in meetings to support educational planning for assigned students
• Provide feedback to educational teams regarding communication needs and strategies
