Job Description

Bring your passion for communication and educational access to a vibrant community in Northern California as a valued interpreter in a school setting. This is a full-time contract opportunity, supporting elementary and intermediate students in a collaborative, inclusive environment for the current and upcoming school year.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting to foster clear communication between deaf/hard of hearing students, peers, teachers, and school personnel
  • Assist students with academic subjects including reading, writing, and math, and support growth in vocational and life skills
  • Supervise and encourage students during classroom activities, recess, and off-campus experiences
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to accommodate individual student needs
  • Maintain ethical standards and confidentiality at all times

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Current certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf (RID), or attainment of a 4.0+ on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessments
  • Candidates with an EIPA score below 4.0 may be considered (will be assigned an ASL Para role)
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL); candidates with an AA degree and strong ASL skills are welcome to apply
  • Previous experience working in school settings and supporting students at the elementary or intermediate level is a plus
  • Compassion, patience, and a commitment to student inclusion and success

This onsite position offers steady hoursapproximately 30 per week, with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule. With multiple positions available and a continuous need, this is a prime opportunity for dedicated professionals eager to make a daily impact.
