Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Experience interpreting in a school or youth-oriented environment preferred.
• Certification such as EIPA, RID, or state interpreter credentials (or eligibility) highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and best practices in educational interpreting.
• Ability to adapt to varied classroom settings and student needs.
• Excellent listening, note-taking, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation for students, teachers, and staff during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
• Foster clear and effective communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff.
• Support students academic and social participation by relaying spoken information and voicing for signers when needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all settings.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as required to support student success.
• Collaborate with teachers to anticipate and prepare for curriculum or lesson changes.
